Snow in Minnesota - Minneapolis Minnesota Professional Photographer

Here are a few pictures from our front yard from an early morning outside (while I was taking the garbage out). The snow was so deep that I couldn't get as close to the trees as I'd like, but the sun was simply amazing.

Here is some detail of the ice crystals on a branch stub.

I love sparkles, even on ornamental grass tassles!

The ice was so thick it was like fur on these branches.

I love the color on this one.

Here's a softer look.

This is only the second time I've shot with a macro lens, and I had just a few minutes in between chasing kids and getting off for the day to snap these. While I have a LOT to learn and will need to change my perspective on shooting in order to develop any skill with macro, I know I'm gonna love it. :)

Stunning macros! The third and the last in the series really appeal to me. I followed your link on LinkedIn.

Macro is my favorite way to capture anything that will lend itself to that style of shot. :))

Hi, Eaton: Thank you for commenting, but even moreso, thank you for finding me on Linkedin!

The pictures you've noted are tassles on an ornamental grass that is a Minnesota native grass. I use different ones frequently throughout our landscaping as I like the "prairie" element they bring.

I am a portrait photographer and purchased a macro lens so I could focus on more detail during specific types of sessions (especially weddings), but I think I'll end up using it a lot to shoot for fun - something I don't do enough of!

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Maris,

These are pretty amazing for taking out the garbage!

#2 and 4 are my favorites.

Overall the blues are stunning. Kind of like the ocean.
