Planning a Wedding Reception at Bayview Event Center | Maris Ehlers Photography

The next post in the wedding planning series will be about location, but that will likely be next week.  As I am editing some images of Sara and Brian's wedding for the reception location at the gorgeous Bayview Event Center on Lake Minnetonka, I decided to post a few PLUS a couple of images from the reception that the bride hasn't even seen.  Sometimes I don't fall in love with an image until I'm looking at it months later and see something totally different.

How did I miss this one?

I think we'll be making room for this one in their album.

Yummy!

The copper on white was STUNNING.

Bayview has a gorgeous rustic feel to it with a large stone fireplace and hearth, which is the focal point of the Lake Minnetonka  reception room.  I loved it.

The flower girl was wanting to boogie...during the maid of honor's toast!

Remember when you are planning your wedding that the details really make the day.

Wedding Wednesday Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Wedding and Walker Art Center Reception | Maris Ehlers Photography

Mike and Mindy were married in September at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and their reception was in the prestigious Sky Room at the Walker Art Center, which is right next door to the gardens.

It was a perfect day.  It threatened to be chilly and rainy, but ended up being a beautiful and sunny fall day that Minnesota CAN be known for.

I had the pleasure of having the images from this wedding published on Wedding Window's blog.

This gorgeous picture was taken just inside the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.  What a great venue (and great location for wedding pictures)!
I love this picture.  I have it printed in a 16 x 24 metallic float wrap and it is stunning!

The newspaper from their hotel suite.

The flower girl following the big girls.

The actual ceremony was in the arbor of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Minneapolis, Minnesota.  It was the middle of September here.  Hard to believe that it was still so green and lush.  I could have photographed them here ALL day!

Again at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This is the first wedding where I showcased a slideshow of the day's formal pictures via an ipad.  You can see a recent article about ipad and wedding photography here. The picture in that post of the parents and siblings of the groom watching the slideshow is from this wedding.  It was a fantastic way to show off some of the great images of the day to guests and family RIGHT there at the reception.

Family Photos at the Local Carnival in Delano, Minnesota | Maris Ehlers Photography

Yesterday was a session with my sister-in-law and niece and nephews.  It was a lot of fun, although EXTREMELY hot and windy, and to make matters more complicated we took them to a carnival in Delano, MN, for the session.  You can imagine, they were SLIGHTLY more interested in games and rides than in smiling nice for the camera.  :)  However, they pulled it off!

We used a mural from one of the rides as our backdrop for this series, and it worked great! :)

If I don't remember to say that it was SUPER HOT, humid and muggy out when we took these, my SIL won't ever forgive me. Ha Ha!

Here's my oldest nephew, Ethan.  On the day Ethan turned one, I took my first black and white photo (many, actually) and my love of photography was born!

And then there is sweet Grant...

And here's little Elise, who isn't so little anymore!

Their beautiful mom Steph, of course!

I wanted to take some evening pictures of them with the lights of the carnival in the background, but it was just too darn hot and muggy, so we ended up coming home early.  However, I made them make one last stop... at a railroad track, and here are a few of my favorites laid out as one of the products I offer called a "GRAND" (5 photo series printed as one image - it requires no mat for framing - the image size is actually 30 x 15, and they look great!).

We had fun pulling the colors together - you'll hear more about this in a few weeks!
