Last year, we did a photo shoot with the Maple Grove Senior High Hockey Team Captains Part I and Part II on the ice they play at in Maple Grove, Minnesota. You may remember them, as those pictures really did make the rounds.  It was fun to see them as they made it from blog to blog, and it was a step out for me in terms of the type of portraits I typically shoot.

This year, we decided to photograph the Maple Grove Senior High Dance Team Captains, and I honestly didn't know what to expect.  We wouldn't be on ice, there wouldn't be fog, and in fact, we'd be shooting this session in the studio.  The only common denominator was the oppressive heat and humidity outside.

I couldn't be more pleased with the results of these portraits, and I hope the girls are, too.

These images absolutely fit the definition of what a portrait is, and each picture definitely tells the viewer something about these girls.  How graceful they are, how beautiful, strong, and connected to each other as dancers and as teammates.  That not only shows a likeness, but it also describes them physically as well as their character.

They will be seniors this year, and this is what senior portraits should be all about.  A likeness of you, imagery that tells the world something about you - your beauty, your grace, your strength and yes, even your character.

P.S.  A fun one of Elena.  :)
