Winter Wonderland Wedding | Maris Ehlers Photography

Update:  Come see the details of this wedding on Wedding Wire's blog.  Wedding Wire is one of the nation's leading wedding planning websites, and we are so excited to be published there.

We had a great plan for yesterday's wedding.  We had an air tight timeline.  We had people who were supposed to help people get to where they needed to be on time.  And we had our first snowfall of the season.  Well, you might call it a bit of a blizzard.  I guess that depends on where you were at when it hit.

Everyone was late.  Traffic was terrible (Angel and I saw 13 cars stalled on the side of the roads or in ditches on our way to the wedding, including hers, which she put in the ditch next to our driveway on her way to meet me).  The roads were a mess, and to make matters worse, it just KEPT snowing.  I've never shot an entire wedding day wearing snowboots!!!!!

So, we had to adapt to plan b and c (plan c was just to make the most of the time we had).  Typically, we have 2-3 hours to get all of the pre-shooting done before a wedding  (detail shots, the first look, the wedding party and family, etc).  Yesterday, we had just over an hour.  You can only shoot so much without a bride.  :)

Everyone was GREAT, though!  We all just knew we'd have to go with the flow, and because we couldn't be outside for more than a few minutes to shoot, I had to make use of what we had inside the building.  In the end, it pushed us to do more with less, and I couldn't be more pleased!

Here's a quick peek of the goodness from Sarah and Brian's big day.  Thank you so much for having us, and for trusting us to document your special celebration.

A big huge thank you to Angel Petit - you have quickly become the best assistant EVER, and my work is better because of you!  Thanks also to Tess Haun.  This was our first wedding working together, but somehow I don't think it will be our last!
